The memorial honors the young men of North East and vicinity who entered the service of their country in the World War of 1917-1919 and is dedicated in loving memory to those who made the supreme sacrifice: J. Wayne Benjamin, Kenneth Peirson Carter, James Joseph Feeney, Francis Judson Heard, Leonard Wesley Kightlinger, Salvatore Savattiere, William Myron Simpson, Perry Smith Bigelow, Victor Carleton Franke, Clair Ticknor Hanley, Leslie Frank Keslar, Leslie L. McGahen, Frank Edward Rundell, William Clifford Sennett, and Jasper Newton Washburn.
