Residents of Mills County who died in World War II included Wayne Baker, Norman O. Black, O.B. Carroll, Bentley Clements, James L. Collier, Joseph H. Conner, Henry K. Dalton, Ernest E. Denton, Clifford W. Doggett, Elwain E. Doggett, Thomas B. Gallaway, Jack W. Farmer, Wilson W. Hamilton, Earl E. Harvey, William T. Head, Anthon H. Hohertz, Herbert T. Hohertz, Fred J. Laughlin, LeRoy Limmer, Maurice Long, T.H. McArthur, Edgar C. McWilliams, Enoch E. Masters, Edwin N. Mitchell, Rufus D. Mitchell, Morriece C. Moody, Marian H. Murphy, James T. Owens, George A. Robert, Alvin A. Rose, Edward O. Rost, Lonnie T. Slaughter, Estelle A. Spinks, Vernon E. Tolliver, Eli W. Tully, Ruth Warlick, Eugene D. Wilmeth, and Lillard C. Wilmeth. In 1947, the Goldthwaite Garden Club honored these dead, and in 1986 the Goldthwaite Lions Club honored all persons of Mills County who served the country in Korea and Vietnam and remembered those who made the supreme sacrifice in combat: Bobby Weldon Letbetter, Michael Christopher Kinsey, Richard Earley Heath, and Raymond King.
