Construction of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad began on July 4, 1828, and on the 175th anniversary of that beginning, the National Railway Historical Society honored the B&O Railroad Museum. The museum was commended for its efforts to protect and restore historic artifacts, including the 1884 Baldwin Roundhouse damaged by winter storms in February 2003.
