Shunkawauken Falls is a 150-foot waterfall near Columbus in western North Carolina, fed by a pond a few metres upstream. Although it stands on private property, it remains a local attraction. The falls were once called Horse Creek Falls, but in 1891 they were renamed for Shunkawauken, a Native American chief who, according to local lore, lived in the area during the 1800s.
