The monument honors the men and women of Pontotoc County who served in the Armed Forces of the United States in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and remembers those who made the supreme sacrifice in service to their country. It especially honors the county’s war dead from World War I, Korea, Vietnam, and World War II, praising their valor in preserving America’s freedom and their sacrifice so that future generations might know peace. A far right panel also includes an honor roll for the Gulf War beginning in 1990.
