Freddie Fitzsimmons moved to 524 W Grove in 1922. From 1929 to 1943 he was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers. From 1943 to 1945 he was a manager with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1948 to 1960 and in 1966, he coached the Boston Braves, New York Giants, Kansas City Athletics, and Chicago Cubs. In 1992, he was inducted into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame.
