This covered bridge, built in 1877 and one hundred eighty-one feet long, was called Cumberland Bridge for Old Town. The 1913 flood carried the bridge downstream. It was returned on rollers to the old foundation and raised three feet. The 1958 flood threatened it but only succeeded in loosening some of the weatherboarding. It was restored in 1999.
