History
This site was a safe house on the Underground Railroad, where Orleans County pioneer and abolitionist Chauncey Robinson, 1792 - 1866, sheltered escaped slaves. It was also the Brainard Home, built by Col. Ezra Brainard, inventor of the Brainard Truss Bridge, a contractor on the Erie Canal, and builder of the Sandy Creek embankment in Holley.
