In 1816, a woman came from Newark, Ohio with her nine children, John, Mariha, Betsey, James, William, Anna, Samuel, Nancy, and David. She built a cabin on the east side of Ridge Road, 3 miles north of Route 162 in Section 3, Lot 33. She later married Jacob Rush, moved out west, and lived to be nearly 100. Her daughter Martha married and remained in this area, and her tombstone may be viewed here.
