Ethel's Old Corral has remained a success since Ethel Beeson's family opened it in the 1940's, with great food, entertainment, customer service, and its original rustic ambiance bringing customers back for over 70 years. Current owner Natalie Mears has continued operating the business with the original vision. It draws a diverse customer base in Kern County, including motorcycle riders, car clubs, cowboys and cowgirls who tie their horses at the hitching rail behind the building, white collar workers, and oilfield hands. Live music and dancing add to its appeal. A 26 foot tall Indian stands guard at Ethel's Old Corral; the Native American statue had earlier served as an advertising symbol for Mohawk Tires, was moved to Garces Circle in Bakersfield, then became the Standard Middle School Warriors mascot, and in 2001 was refurbished and placed in front of the restaurant.
