Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California, opened in 1996 as a music venue, museum, nightclub, bar, and restaurant created by Buck Owens. Conceived from his desire for a more polished home for country-western performance than the small bars and honky-tonks of his early career, it was built in a Western Revival style with an interior resembling a nineteenth-century western town. Owens was closely involved in construction, approving 135 change orders that raised costs to $7.4 million and delayed the opening. Blending live entertainment with museum displays from Owens’s career, it became one of Bakersfield’s best-known landmarks before closing in August 2025.
