Gammelgården Museum of Scandia is an open-air museum in Scandia, Minnesota, dedicated to preserving Swedish immigrant heritage. Spread across 11 acres, it includes historic buildings and artifacts connected to the area’s Swedish settlers from the 1850s onward, including original site structures such as the Prästgård and Ladugård, as well as relocated landmarks like Minnesota’s oldest Lutheran church building and one of Scandia’s earliest homes. Established in 1972 after efforts by Elim Lutheran Church, the museum interprets everyday immigrant life through tours, exhibits, and traditions such as Luciadagen, while also drawing an international audience and serving as a place where heritage and civic life continue to meet.
