Iron Mountain is a 9,694-foot peak in the Soldier Mountains of central Idaho, in Camas County within Sawtooth National Forest. At the west end of the range northwest of Fairfield, it is notable for being a relatively accessible class 2 ascent despite its elevation. The main route to the summit is long rather than technical, about 11 miles one way, and the primary trail is open to two-wheel motorized off-road vehicles. An old Forest Service fire lookout stands on the summit. The mountain also anchors a compact landscape of nearby lakes, creeks, and peaks, with its northern slopes draining into Deadwood Creek and the South Fork Boise River.
