About 1922, East 14 Mile, then known as Clawson Road, had electrical lines including street lights and wooden sidewalks on the right side of the street. In the left foreground stood the Lincoln Theatre, Clawson's first movie house, during its construction; it burned in the early 1930s. The next tall brick building is the oldest building still standing downtown, and the white frame building across the street was Lawson Lumber. In the distance was The Niles Road, now Main Street. Near this spot in the 1920s, George Robinson's general store provided a large range of goods for Clawson residents after another smaller general store at the 14 Mile and Main intersection had closed.
