Local historians relate that water from high mountain lakes flowed through a five hundred-foot wooden chute that led to a huge square tank or pressure box behind Campsite 29. There it entered a three-foot pipe reduced to two feet to gain pressure, then went downhill two hundred feet to the hydraulic monitors at the mine.
