THE STORY

The Wabash & Erie Canal served as a trade and emigration route from Lake Erie to Evansville. It was completed through Logansport in 1840, followed Erie Avenue and 5th Street, and crossed the Eel River by wooden aqueduct. It was abandoned about 1876.
