Tetzlaff Peak is a 6,267-foot mountain in western Utah's Silver Island Mountains, rising sharply from the Bonneville Salt Flats and standing out as a major landmark in the Great Salt Lake Desert. Its summit climbs about 2,000 feet above the flats within a mile, emphasizing its abrupt prominence above the basin. The peak's name honors American racecar driver Teddy Tetzlaff, whose 1914 land speed record at nearby Salduro linked him to this landscape. The U.S. Board on Geographic Names officially adopted the name in 1960. The surrounding cold desert is marked by hot summers, cold winters, arid air, and strong temperature drops after sunset.
