Narada Falls, in Mount Rainier National Park, is widely regarded as the park’s most popular waterfall because the Mount Rainier Highway passes between its two tiers. The falls descend 188 feet in two stages: a 168-foot upper horsetail cascade that breaks into strands down a nearly sheer cliff into a canyon, followed by a smaller 20-foot lower plunge. In winter, the upper section freezes into about 150 feet of icicles, attracting ice climbers. Originally called Cushman Falls, the site received the name Narada in 1893 from Arthur F. Knight during a trip with the Narada branch of the Theosophical Society of Western Washington.
