Brewhouse was the birthplace of Thomas Johnson (1732–1819), a member of the Continental Congress in 1774 who nominated Washington as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army in 1775, was first elected Governor of Maryland in 1777, and became an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court in 1791.
