Cartier Slough Wildlife Management Area is a 961-acre protected wetland and river-edge habitat along the Henrys Fork of the Snake River in eastern Idaho, west of Rexburg. Acquired in 1976 and 1977 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation, it was set aside as mitigation for the Teton and Ririe dams, giving it a distinct purpose beyond that of a typical park or refuge. Managed as an Idaho wildlife management area, it supports waterfowl and more than 200 wildlife species. Moose, elk, mule deer, and white-tailed deer also use the area, making it both a preserve and an important wildlife corridor.
