Dunning Mountain is a stratigraphic ridge in central Pennsylvania within the Ridge and Valley section of the Appalachians. Its north end reaches McKee Gap, where Halter Creek flows west toward the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River, while its southern continuation merges into Evitts Mountain after bending east to form The Kettle; Morrisons Cove lies along its eastern side, and Roaring Spring stands near the mountain’s northeastern base. Geologically, it is the west limb of a broad anticline opposite Tussey Mountain, and its crest is capped by erosion-resistant Silurian Tuscarora quartzite. Local roads cross the ridge, and parts of State Game Lands Number 147 support conservation and outdoor use.
