During the Revolution, the Wyandot village here became a British war base called Wapatomica. Invasions against Bryant Station, Kentucky, and Fort Henry in Wheeling, West Virginia, were planned and launched from here. The fort, erected in 1782, was destroyed in 1786 by Colonel Logan, for whom the county was named.
