Woden is a 6,038-foot summit in Olympic National Park and the highest point in The Valhallas, a sub-range south of Mount Olympus, in a wet, glaciated part of the Olympic Mountains drained by tributaries of the South Fork Hoh and Queets rivers. Its name reflects the Norse theme adopted for The Valhallas, a name credited to Glenn Kelsey and Harold Pinsch after earlier naming efforts in the area. The mountain’s first recorded ascent came in 1966 by Ernie Labistida and Ivan Lindgren. Its north side holds the Geri-Freki Glacier, the only glacier in The Valhallas, in a landscape shaped by heavy Pacific precipitation, ancient oceanic rock, and repeated Pleistocene glaciation.
