Annie McGann Cumpston was a six-year-old child who was killed by a drunk driver while crossing the street with her family after leaving the circus. Known as "Momma Annie" because she always cared for others before herself, she was loved by everyone. Her tragic loss brought family and friends together to create Annie's Playground, a beautiful place made possible by heartfelt efforts and an overwhelming response from sponsors and volunteers. Designed and built with love by volunteers for families to enjoy for years to come and to cherish the time they have on this earth, Annie's Playground became one of the largest playgrounds in the country and stands as a place of joy dedicated to Annie and all like her who have left this world too soon, urging all who visit to live, love, and laugh and never take for granted the time they have together.
