Euharlee Covered Bridge is a wooden Town lattice bridge spanning Euharlee Creek in Euharlee, west of Cartersville, Georgia. Built in 1886 after floodwaters destroyed an earlier bridge on Daniel Lowry’s property and killed one man, it was erected beside the local mill by Washington King, son of Horace King, with Johnathan H. Burke, using some materials supplied by Lowry. The 138-foot span is made of crisscrossing planks fastened with wooden pegs, and its covered design helped preserve the timber. Closed to vehicles in 1980 after a nearby two-lane bridge opened, it survives as an important example of Georgia’s covered-bridge era and the King family’s craftsmanship.
