The International Larix Arboretum in Hungry Horse, Montana, is a small public arboretum within the Coram Experimental Forest on the Flathead National Forest devoted to the scientific study of larches. Coram Experimental Forest was established in 1933 to represent western larch, a distinctive deciduous member of the pine family valued for its water-resistant wood. Dedicated on October 7, 1992, during an International Larix Symposium, the arboretum was created for species comparisons and genetics research. It brings together larches from North America, Europe, and Asia, including subspecies and hybrids, in a carefully arranged planting of nearly 600 trees that also serves as a public garden.
