In 1940, Leroy and Della Rolar opened a service station-cafe on this property to serve the increasing needs of motorists along Route 66 near Hesperia. State Highway 31-C had become U.S. Route 66 in 1928, though only the roadway's name changed. The station remained in operation until it closed in 1949.
