La Prele Creek drainage meanders through alternating layers of sandstone and sandy limestone in the Permian and Pennsylvanian Casper formation, cutting into an outcrop from both the upstream and downstream sides. As the creek undercuts the stone, the lower level collapses and forms the bridge, after which the creek follows the shortcut and flows under the bridge. In memory of Lou B. Reed.
