The Park Inn Hotel in downtown Mason City, Iowa, is among Frank Lloyd Wright’s most significant surviving commercial designs and the last hotel he designed that still exists. Conceived with the adjacent City National Bank as a unified Prairie School complex, it combined hotel rooms, banking space, law offices, and shops in a coherent mixed-use plan completed in 1910. Though architecturally important as a link between Wright’s earlier Prairie work and later projects, it struggled financially, closed in 1925, and was heavily altered and long neglected. After decades of decline and vacancy, a full restoration completed in 2011 reunited and revived the complex as a centerpiece of Mason City’s architectural heritage.
