Built in 1868 by developer C. H. Kahmann, this building served as the C. Kegelmann Cigar Fctory until 1889. Julius Rombach and Paul Schmidle operated their bakery here until the partners split in 1902, and Schmidle remained until 1920. The rear addition was an early location of the Observer newspaper.
