In 1963, over 200,000 people of different races and faiths gathered in support of Martin Luther King Jr.'s approach to equal rights. King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech, proclaiming his commitment to a world "that will judge by the content of [one's] character, not the color of their skin." He also declared, "Every nation must now develop an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in their individual societies."
