A monument in Caldwell County honors the men who wore the gray, including those from Company A of the 22nd North Carolina Regiment Infantry, Company F of the 26th North Carolina Regiment Infantry, Company I of the 26th North Carolina Regiment Infantry, Company E of the 58th North Carolina Regiment Infantry, Company H of the 58th North Carolina Regiment Infantry, and many other sons of the county who served in other commands. It was erected by the Vance Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy of Caldwell County, North Carolina, in May 1910.
