Confederate soldiers of McLaws Division fought and died during the Battle of Averasboro on March 15-16, 1865. The division included Blanchard’s Brigade, with the 1st and 2nd Battalion South Carolina Reserves, 6th and 7th Battalion South Carolina Reserves, and Kay’s Company South Carolina Reserves; Conner’s Brigade, with the 2nd South Carolina, 3rd South Carolina, 7th South Carolina, 8th South Carolina, 15th South Carolina, 20th South Carolina, and 3rd South Carolina Battalion; Fiser’s Brigade, with the 1st Georgia, 5th and 6th Georgia Reserves, 2nd Georgia Battalion Reserves, and 27th Georgia Battalion; Hardy’s Brigade, with the 50th North Carolina, 77th North Carolina, and 10th North Carolina Heavy Artillery Battalion; Harrison’s Brigade, with the 5th Georgia, 32nd Georgia, and 47th Georgia; and artillery under Brooks’ Battery.
