The David L. Nutt Home is a two-story house built in 1879 by David Lee Nutt, who came to Texas from Missouri in 1857. It was constructed in plantation style with cypress lumber hauled by ox cart from east Texas. The home was soon converted into Hood County's first hotel, humorously named "The Nutt House" by the family, and its patrons were drummers visiting Nutt's mercantile store. It became a home again in 1900. Nutt was also a donor of 40 acres for the original Granbury townsite. The house was restored in 1967 by descendants of David Lee and Sue Garland Nutt.
