The Phoenix House
History
Built circa 1805 in the classic federal style, the Phoenix House first served as an academy for young ladies. William Phoenix purchased it in 1820 for use as an inn. His daughters converted it to a boarding house in 1857. Since 1938, the borough of Mendham has used it for municipal offices and meeting space.
