At the first site of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Reverend Thomas E. Hughes was ordained on August 28, 1799, the first communion service north of the Ohio River was held on September 1, 1799, and the Erie Presbytery was organized at this location on April 13, 1802.
