Green River State Wildlife Area is an Illinois state park in Lee County spanning 2,565 acres. Illinois acquired it in 1940 with money from the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act and established it as a wildlife restoration area. The property has long served both conservation and public recreation, with use by hunters, hikers, birders, and other outdoor enthusiasts. Nearly the entire area is open to hunting, with only 50 acres around the residence set aside from that use. It continues as a managed public landscape focused on wildlife habitat and outdoor activity.
