The Amur tiger, also known as the Siberian, is one of the five remaining types of tigers and is the biggest cat and biggest tiger. There are fewer than 400 Amur tigers left, and three kinds of tigers have become extinct since the 1930s. Soon there may be only four types of tigers left, because the South China tiger is on the brink of extinction. Because of its large size, the Amur tiger needs a vast area of undisturbed wilderness to hunt for food, but expanding human activities are shrinking its habitat. Its diet includes deer, boar, elk, lynx, bear, fish, and rabbits, and its habitat is mixed forests.
