U.S. Army Corporal Michael L. Mayne served with the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He was killed in action on 23 Feb. 09 in Balad, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is remembered as a fallen cavalry trooper who selflessly gave all that he had for his fellow troopers and his country, and his sacrifice is held up for future generations to remember and emulate in selflessness and love of country and fellow troopers.
