Col. Ruby G. Bradley served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps for 30 years. During World War II, from 1941 to 1945, she was a prisoner of war for 37 months in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign in the Philippine Islands. During the Korean War, from 1950 to 1953, she was Chief Nurse of the emergency hospitals in Tague, Seoul and Pyongyang and was appointed Chief Nurse of the United States 8th Army in Korea. In 1991, she was the most decorated woman in the history of the United States Army to date.
