Robert P. McCulloch, Sr.'s purchase of London Bridge in 1968 saved it for the enjoyment and use of posterity, and on October 10, 1981, this 150th anniversary of the bridge, London Bridge was formally dedicated to the citizens of Lake Havasu City.
