Parents, relatives, and friends dedicated the Nekoosa War Memorial to perpetuate the memory of local defenders of freedom who made the supreme sacrifice in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Those honored from World War I were Archie Hamel, Robert Huggins, Lucas Jackon, Harold Larsen, Ole Slining, Richard Soward, and Eugene Timlin. Those honored from World War II were Roger Arendt, Earl Breese, Bernard Buehler, Howard Crowns, Charles Daskam, Edward Hasenohrl, James Havlena, Donald Holz, John Karpinski, John Krennke, Anthony Martin, Jr., Douglas Rezin, Richard Rosebush, Le Roy Ruder, Edward Schaffenberger, George Schumann, Harland Spry, Dale Staege, Mathew Stempinski, Allen Vandenberg, Keith Warner, and Gerald Wipfli. Those honored from the Korean War were George Blackburn, George Buehler, Lawrence Haas, John Wulf, and Ronald Zurfluh. Those honored from the Vietnam War were Jerry Ashburn, Kenneth Goodness, and Ronald Hagen. The memorial was dedicated on May 30, 1960, and rededicated on May 30, 1988.
