During the Civil War, union soldiers and sailors from Reynoldsville served in Pennsylvania volunteer and reserve units, and citizens erected this memorial in 1917 in memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, including John Kurn, Samuel Reynolds, James A. Johnson, George Winkleman, Hiram P/. Sprague, Lieutenant George W. Crosley, John W. Rea, Noah Wensell, Joseph Rutter, John B. Clough, Major John C. Conser, Sergeant Joseph F. Green, Hugh Conn, Peter Sharp, Daniel G. Carl, George Howlett, Sergeant Irvin R. Long, and John Sheasley.
