Mount Sheridan is a 13,748-foot Colorado peak on the boundary of Lake and Park counties in the Mosquito Range, about six miles southeast of Leadville. One of the state's thirteeners, it ranks among Park County's highest summits and is known for its steep relief above Empire Amphitheater and Fourmile Creek. West Sheridan, an officially named subsidiary summit, rises nearby to 12,953 feet. The mountain also forms a drainage divide, sending runoff west toward the Arkansas River and east into the South Fork South Platte system. Named for General of the Army Philip Henry Sheridan, it now serves as a popular hiking destination despite harsh alpine weather and seasonal monsoon storms.
