In 1819, the Turnham family settled less than one mile northeast of Thomas Lincoln's farm. David Turnham was a friend of Abraham Lincoln and in 1827 loaned him Revised Laws of Indiana (1824). After Lincoln's assassination, Turnham provided information to historians about Lincoln's youth.
