Reuben Brown constructed the front part of this house about the time of his marriage to Elinor Youngs in 1765. The back wing, which originally was on the west side, may be even older. The Hallock family purchased the farm about 1800 and in 1845 raised the roof of the original Cape Cod house to make it two-and-a-half stories tall. A photo was taken before a large west wing was moved across the street in 1903.
