Sandy Creek Bridge is a historic covered bridge in southwestern Oregon near Remote on the Middle Fork Coquille River. Built in 1921 to carry Oregon Route 42, the 60-foot bridge is the only remaining covered bridge in Coos County. Its unusually large side openings and truss made from two crossed Howe truss members on each chord set it apart from more typical covered bridges in the state. After a new bridge bypassed it in 1949, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and restored in 1984 by Myrtle Point Lions Club volunteers, preserving it in a county park as part of the region’s early road-building history.
