Originally part of St. Jones Hundred, this area was renamed Dover Hundred in 1823, with boundaries of Little Creek on the north and St. Jones Creek on the south, extending from the Delaware River to the Maryland Line. In 1877, Dover Hundred was divided into two hundreds called West Dover Hundred and East Dover Hundred.
