Bodcau Wildlife Management Area is a 33,766-acre protected tract in northwestern Louisiana along Bodcau Creek, also called Bodcau Bayou, extending through Bossier and Webster parishes. Owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, it combines flood control, habitat protection, recreation, and environmental education. The area’s development grew from the Bayou Bodcau Dam and Reservoir project, begun in 1947 and completed in 1949, and later included Ivan Lake, created in 1958 and restored after being drained in 2004. Its history also reaches back to an 1843 ferry and cabin site tied to E.C. Long, now an education center.
