Founded in 1828 as the first Baptist church established in Campbell County, Ramah Baptist Church became the mother church for many churches in the Western and Fairburn Baptist associations. James Rainwater (1795 - 1871), the first known pastor, served for 26 years and is buried in the church cemetery, where William Brewster, a Revolutionary soldier (1757 – 1847), is also buried. Robert Jackson donated the land, and a log cabin served as the first house of worship as well as a school. That structure was replaced by a frame building in 1851, and the present sanctuary, built of Stone Mountain granite, was completed in 1906 for the sum of $3,000.00.
